ETSU Research Corporation Chief Executive Stephen Marshall was recently appointed to the Digital Marketing Institute.
“My approach and mission is to be a positive force in talent development,” Marshall says.
Digital Marketing Institute is a global organization with over 300,00 members worldwide. We focus on educational programs in the field of digital marketing in the form of certifications. They accomplish this by partnering with other organizations to train future professionals.
“About 90% of people in the digital marketing field do not have entry-level skills in the digital marketing field,” says Marshall. “So there really is a talent gap out there. ETSU is doing a great job of covering that, but the real role of the Digital Marketing Institute is to help not only the university but also fill that gap.” . . . but primarily for businesses and industry.”
Marshall's committee is comprised of industry executives from major digital marketing companies such as Google and Meta. His role is to help ensure that the certifications and programs we are building reflect industry needs. Research various standards and trends within your industry to update your curriculum.
ETSU has been officially affiliated with the Digital Marketing Institute since 2020, making the university's media and communications program the first in the nation to be accredited by the institute.
