The Sims 4 has long been a haven for players looking to create themselves and see themselves expressed in virtual form. A host of Maxis Create-A-Sim features, sims 4 In the modding community, creating a virtual version of yourself is usually easy, but it's not for everyone. EA and Maxis are looking to change that with the game's latest additions.
A new base game update adds vitiligo to Create-A-Sim's menu options, allowing people with the condition to choose from up to 61 alternate skin patterns and shapes for their Sims and create their own. You will be able to portray yourself more effectively.
According to the Australian College of Dermatologists, vitiligo is a “relatively common condition in which the skin is unable to produce pigment.” The condition affects about 1 to 2 percent of the population and “usually appears as white areas with sharp edges on the skin, with no prior inflammation of the affected skin.”
EA's blog post explaining the new update states, “Our concept artists and art directors worked together to design a diverse set of patterns across faces, torso areas, and limbs.”
“Our study found that the edges of depigmentation can be sharp in some cases, while some edges can be dark and irregular,” it reads. “Vitiligo affects people of all ethnicities and skin types, so our senior character artists purposefully created the first assets that worked with the skin tones of our Sims. As you change from dark to neutral to cool, the color of your Sim's vitiligo changes.'' We'll adapt to the change accordingly. ”
The new update comes as part of a collaboration with supermodel Winnie Barlow, who is known as an advocate for people with vitiligo, and Barlow touched on what the term means to her as a Sims player in a new post. .
“It's magical to see The Sims 4 “The team introduced this new vitiligo feature,” Barlow said. “As a child, I spent a lot of time playing sims I think it's a beautiful thing to be able to express your true self in a game. This partnership is a powerful statement that encourages players to embrace what makes them unique, both in-game and in real life. ”
Mechanically, the new vitiligo options fall under the same heading as birthmarks, which were introduced as part of an update to the base game in early 2023.
