Sapphire Edge+ VPR-4616-MB is a new mini-ITX motherboard on the “new” AMD Embedded+ “architecture” consisting of an AMD Ryzen Embedded R2314 processor and AMD Versal AI Edge VE2302 adaptive SoC (also known as FPGA SoC) .
This motherboard supports up to 64GB ECC/non-ECC DDR4 memory for the CPU and 8GB of memory for the adaptive SoC, supports SATA and NVMe storage, dual video outputs, 2.5GbE networking, and supports various USB ports and M. Provides 2. Socket for expansion. AMD Embedded+ solutions target sensor fusion, AI inference, industrial networking, control, and visualization applications.

Supported operating systems include RHEL/CentOS 7.9, RHEL 8.2-8.6, and Ubuntu 22.04. SAPHIRe also offers IO expansion boards (2x 10/25Gb Ethernet boards with dual GbE, 8x GMSL2 cameras, and 16 GPIOs), including the EDGE+ VPR-4616-MB, which offers “ultra-fast performance/Watt It is said that it is a suitable platform for “applications”. It can be used as a robot controller with motion planning capabilities or as a medical PC with connected probes.
From my understanding, Ryzen Embedded R2000 series processors and Versal AI Ege FPGA SoCs have been around for several years, so the just-announced “AMD Embedded+ architecture” isn't new from a hardware perspective, but AMD aims to: To speed time to market for Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs), we offer all-in-one motherboards and a “common software infrastructure” through our partners. There also appears to be a certification/certification program for Embedded+ hardware.
