Rolling Hills Zoo is competing for travel awards

Salina's Rolling Hills Zoo is among zoos from across the United States that have come together to be named one of the best zoos. Rolling Hills is a nominee for Best Zoo in USA TODAY's 2024 10 Best Readers' Choice Travel Awards.
According to USA TODAY, there are hundreds of zoos in the United States, including more than 200 that are accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). To develop an appreciation for the amazing diversity of animals on our planet, there's nothing like a trip to the wildest parts of the world than a visit to a zoo.
A panel of experts has selected the top 20 best zoos in the United States. These facilities excel in the areas of animal care and animal husbandry, while also fostering meaningful interactions between animals and human visitors.

- San Diego Zoo – San Diego, California
- Cheyenne Mountain Zoo – Colorado Springs, Colorado
- Brevard Zoo – Melbourne, Florida

- Rolling Hills Zoo – Salina, Kansas
- Louisville Zoo – Louisville, Kentucky
- Audubon Zoo – New Orleans, Louisiana
- Minnesota Zoo – Apple Valley, Minnesota
- St. Louis Zoo – St. Louis, Missouri
- Zoo Montana – Billings, Montana
- Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium – Omaha, Nebraska
- Living Desert Zoo & Gardens State Park – Carlsbad, New Mexico
- Central Park Zoo – New York City, New York
- Seneca Park Zoo – Rochester, New York
- North Carolina Zoo – Asheboro, North Carolina
