New York, February 15, 2024–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Options Technology (Options), a pioneer in capital markets infrastructure, names Marlena Efstratopoulou as its new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) I'm proud to announce what I did. Mr. Malena's elevation to this important role marks a pivotal moment for Options as it strengthens its commitment to an integrated and robust security strategy.
Previously serving as Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and Chief Security Officer (CSO) at the company, Marlena brings extensive experience and an outstanding track record in cybersecurity and risk management. Her journey with Options began in October 2021 after she acquired the Fixnetix division from DXC, where she served as CSO. She succeeds John Gracey, who held the CSO position since 2017.
The decision to merge the CRO and CSO roles reflects Option's strategic shift to a risk-driven security approach. Mr. Malena's appointment underscores the company's goal to seamlessly integrate security and risk functions and leverage a holistic understanding of the threat landscape to drive informed decision-making.
“In today's dynamic cybersecurity landscape, a comprehensive and integrated security approach is paramount,” said Danny Moore, president and CEO. “Mr. Marlena’s appointment as his CISO demonstrates our commitment to ensuring the highest standards of security for our clients and partners.”
Malena's vision for the role is clear. It is about moving security from being perceived as an “inhibitor” to an “enabler.” She aims to embed security principles into every aspect of the organization by aligning security decisions with real and perceived risks to the business. This approach not only enhances collaboration and communication, but also streamlines the decision-making process, leading to more efficient resource allocation and budgeting.
“I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in my new role as CISO,” said Marlena. “The challenges we face in cybersecurity require innovative solutions and strategic thinking. I am committed to leading options towards a future where security is not just a necessity, but a strategic advantage. I want to go.”
Mr. Malena's appointment comes at a time of growing cybersecurity threats, highlighting the importance of a proactive and unified security posture. With Marlena at the helm, Options is poised to effectively navigate these challenges and continue to deliver unparalleled value to our stakeholders.
