People around the world have long been fascinated by the moon. And thanks to space agencies like NASA, we can not only learn more about them, but also marvel at the beauty of the images they capture. Recently, NASA shared a photo of the moon in its crescent phase on Instagram. This image quickly gained a lot of attention when it was shared, leaving many people stunned.
“Our moon is in the waning crescent stage, with most of the sunlight shining on the far side of the moon, the side that can't be seen directly from Earth. The waning crescent is the result of the lunar cycle being “new”. “It is the final stage before repeating at the 'Moon' stage and is completely hidden from Earth's perspective,” NASA wrote in the caption of the post. The space agency added, “As seen from the @ISS, the Moon appears partially bright in the upper center of the image. Earth appears blue and there are faint white clouds in the atmosphere, extending from the bottom left to the top right of the image. There is a black space around the moon.
