(Security Widefield, Colo.) – The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has confirmed the identity of a man who was shot and killed during a confrontation with law enforcement in Security Widefield early Saturday morning, January 27th.
According to CSPD, 51-year-old Christopher Fraijo died from gunshot wounds sustained in an incident involving El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO) officers and Fountain Police Department (FPD) officers. According to CSPD, the lead investigating agency, an EPSO deputy saw Fraijo walking southbound on Security Boulevard with a gun in his hand.
After El Paso County Sheriff's Office deputies and Fountain Police Department officers responded and made contact with Fraijo, CSPD said Fraijo ignored commands from law enforcement to drop his weapon. did. CSPD said he then pointed his gun at members of law enforcement, at which point at least one EPSO deputy and at least one FPD officer opened fire.
Life-saving efforts were carried out, but Mr. Fraijo ultimately died at the hospital. No deputies, officers or bystanders were injured in the shooting.
The deputies and police officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave in accordance with department policy and have been identified as:
- Deputy Tiffany Lee, employed by EPSO since 2014
- Corporal Eric Moore, has been with FPD since 2016.
- Deputy Cameron Komrowski, employed by EPSO since 2018
- Deputy Jonathan Agen, employed by EPSO since 2018
- Officer Brandon Anderson has been with FPD since 2020.
- Officer Destin Alvarez hired by FPD in 2020
