La Jolla-based real estate agent Michelle Serafini has a new addition to her resume: travel writer.
In Getaway Home – Your Stories and Adventures from Your Home Away From Home, Serafini has created an easy-to-follow travelogue perfect for anyone who owns or rents a vacation home.
In “Getaway Home,” Serafini employs “prompts” that encourage readers to record, share, and pass on special moments and places. “Prompts are quotes or pictures that people can visualize,” she said of her own writing method of presenting these examples. She said, “It might be something like, “Today's sunrise was like x,'' or “My favorite food in this place is…''
By combining vacation-themed photos and inspirational quotes (some her own, some famous) to create a guided vacation diary, Serafini shares her adventures with her readers and… We encourage you to describe your experience. Therefore, she said, the writer-reader can become a food critic for local restaurants, a travel writer, and a regional guide herself.
“In a sense, this diary becomes the story of the villa itself, as if the people who lived and played in the space over the years had created a story that would be passed down through generations,” Serafini added. Ta. A story about when people have fun. ”
Where did the inspiration for Serafini's travel writing come from? “Travel has always been a driving force in my life,” she answered. She says, “It started with her first trip abroad to Bavaria, Germany, in high school, where she wrote in a diary every day. Along with her passion for diaries, my wanderlust continued throughout my life.”
Travel writers believe in capturing the moments that make memories and sharing their stories. In today's fast-paced digital world, people enjoy moments, laughter, gatherings, conversations, food, and travel while relaxing in their second home.
Serafini says her travel guide journal is similar to others in that it encourages personal growth, but it also allows people to relate more fully to their experiences and do things in a “more creative way.” He said it goes beyond that in that it “really captures your memories” while helping you remember and think. , not just “I woke up and had breakfast.” This is a great way for people to record, enjoy and remember their adventures and lifestyle during their stay. ”
Serafini added that she aims to help people remember “the nuances of what they see in that moment,” such as the name of a village pie or ice cream shop.
Formerly with Coldwell Banker and currently with Compass Real Estate, he spent more than 20 years as a real estate agent on the La Jolla coast and contributed to Serafini's travel writing.
“I realized the importance of recording memories at home,” she said. “Many of the people here have second or even third condos or homes. That's what inspired me to write this book.
“There's something very special about properties that people make memories with,” Serafini continued. “A second home is often a home where people gather for special occasions or go on vacation. Having worked in the real estate industry, I understand the value of the story that comes from a vacation home. Now we can pass it down through the generations in book form.”
