The Japanese government is considering whether to ease travel restrictions to Ukraine for companies helping rebuild the war-torn country.
According to NHK, Ukrinform reported.
The Japan-Ukraine Economic Reconstruction Promotion Conference will be held in Tokyo on February 19 and 20, where the government is expected to announce simplifications of travel rules, among other measures to support public and private sector reconstruction efforts.
Some Japanese companies have complained that ongoing travel restrictions on Ukraine, currently in place at the highest level, are hampering their operations in the country.
Government officials are discussing ways to ease restrictions on related companies. As Russia continues to attack Ukraine, most officials are against lowering the alert level for travel to the country.
They also want the current evacuation advisory to continue.
The government is considering allowing companies to stay in Ukraine for a certain period of time after assessing whether safety can be ensured.
According to Japanese law, travel to countries and regions at war is prohibited, and violators face administrative liability in the form of large fines.
