HOWELL — A large automotive district under construction in Howell has partnered with a famous sports car racing team.
Motorsports Gateway, coming soon to Howell, has announced a “strategic partnership” with New Hudson-based Pratt Miller Motorsports, known for its Corvette racing team.
The partnership was announced at the Rolex 24 at Dayton, a 24-hour endurance race held at Daytona International Speedway in January.
The Howell neighborhood will be developed in phases on approximately 273 acres north of Interstate 96 between D-19/Michigan Avenue and Lucy Road. Plans include a members-only driving circuit, trackside garage condominiums, rental garages for members, an automotive innovation business park, and mixed-use zones for retail, restaurants, entertainment, and other commercial businesses.
“This strategic partnership not only increases the presence of our brand in the world of motorsport, but also heralds a new chapter in providing our members with an exclusive, adrenaline-pumping experience.” Gateway officials said in a release.
Motorsports member benefits include exclusive tours of Pratt Miller Motorsports pits, garages and trailers. Behind-the-scenes access to the team's New Hudson headquarters. Exchange event with professional racers and managers. Front row seats during the race car's “shakedown,” according to the release.
The Motorsports Gateway logo will appear on Pratt Miller Motorsports vehicles, transporters, garages and pit equipment.
Officials say this will give people a “home team to root for.”
“Our partnership with Pratt Miller Motorsports, a legendary name in the racing world, is an important step for Motorsports Gateway,” said CEO Jordan Dick.
