Fred Beans Automotive Group recently donated $500,000 to 16 community organizations that provide scholarships, educational services and innovative school programs. This donation was made through the company's involvement in the Pennsylvania Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program.
The company announced in a press release that it has selected 12 recipients to receive $25,000 each and four recipients to receive $50,000 each at the end of 2023.
Two of the recipients are Chester County organizations. West Chester Library, $25,000. Chester County History Center, $25,000.
Westchester Public Library Director Victoria Dow said the EITC funding from Fred Beans will be a “huge boost” to the library's summer reading program. She said the youngest readers especially benefit and even realize the importance of the program.
The $500,000 donation from Fred Beans was double last year's donation, the company said.
“The Pennsylvania General Assembly passed and then the Governor approved a $150 million increase in the Education Improvement Tax Credit and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit program,” said Beth Beans Gilbert, vice president of Fred Beans Automotive Group. As a result, we were able to increase the amount of donations this year.” . said in a statement.
He added that the company has been participating in the EITC program for more than 10 years and “recognizes the many benefits of returning funds to the community, especially to support education.”
The remaining recipients are in Bucks and Somerset counties. Since 2011, Fred Beans has donated his $3 million to the community through his participation in the EITC program.
