A fire broke out at a Rockville Center car dealership Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
Seven fire stations and 60 firefighters were called out around 1 p.m. to fight the fire at K&K Auto & Tire Center.
Officials said the fire did not spread to other nearby buildings and no one was injured. Crews were able to bring the fire under control within an hour.
Boris Flores was working at Parmagianni in Rockville Center when he first smelled smoke and saw it blowing down North Long Beach Road.
“And then all of a sudden I see everyone running and I see him run and open the door and I'm like, 'Here's the store next door, there's fires everywhere.'” That's when I I thought, 'Everyone get out,'” Flores said.
Larry Eulip brought his truck in for maintenance, but it was in one of the bays when the fire broke out.
His truck was destroyed in the fire.
“This is a leased truck, which means if it goes back up or whatever, it's going to be covered by insurance. And I've got to bounce back from that,” he said. thing. “
Joan Rozewicz, of Rockville Center, said she picked up her car from the store less than 30 minutes before the fire broke out.
“I can't believe it. I'm really happy that all the mechanics and everyone are safe,” Rojevic said. “Buildings can be replaced, but lives cannot be replaced…”
