The European Liquid Gas Conference (ELGC) will be held from June 18th to 20th at the Lyon Convention Center in Lyon, France, and will feature a new and innovative format.
Experts, policy makers and industry leaders from across Europe and around the world explore the future of the liquid gas industry. The event will also be accompanied by the largest exhibition in this field in Europe.
The theme of this year's conference is “Delivering today.'' According to ELGC leaders, “Preparing for tomorrow'' is at the heart of the liquid gas industry's efforts.
For decades, the industry has provided Europeans with reliable and accessible energy solutions. With increasing production of renewable liquefied gases such as renewable LPG and renewable recycled carbon DME, the industry is positioned to provide sustainable gas alternatives for the future, say ELGC leaders. . It added that liquid gas could play a key role in ensuring a resilient energy supply for the European Union and promoting future decarbonisation.
Registration for the competition is now open and can be done on the ELGC 2024 website.
A strategic moment to shape the energy landscape
Recent years have brought many challenges and opportunities to the region. Negotiations on the 'Fit for 55' package, a set of legislative proposals aimed at putting the EU on track for carbon neutrality in 2050, are due to end this year. The EU's goal is for renewable energy to account for 42.5 percent of the EU's total energy consumption. Reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 55% by 2030.
Global renewable/bio LPG production capacity is expected to increase by 1.26 million tonnes in 2023 and double to 2.2 million tonnes over the next five years. Europe's biopropane production capacity from hydrogenated vegetable oils could increase by 12% to 326,000 tonnes per year from 2022 to 2023, and double in the next five years to 674,000 tonnes per year, ELGC leaders said. It is said that there is a sex.
In the face of complex geopolitical and economic challenges, global cooperation, trade and sharing of innovation are more valuable than ever, and the 2024 conference will support this, particularly in the context of the partnership with Europe. ELGC leaders say it is designed to foster such cooperation.
Climate change, low carbon fuels, key priorities
With the goals of increasing energy efficiency, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing the share of renewable energy, ELGC 2024 will explore the role of liquid gases in the long-term energy landscape and set a positive trajectory for the sector. Helps shape.
This issue's program focuses on some of the most pressing priorities, addressing key topics such as security of supply, sustainability, renewable alternatives and safety. In particular, key topics include:
- The role of gas fuels in Europe to reduce air pollution and CO2 emissions, meet consumer expectations and impact sectors such as heating, transport, agriculture, commercial and industrial applications.
- Long-term outlook for liquefied gas in Europe and the policy outlook required for the development of renewable liquefied gas, including research and development, standardization and safety activities.
- The impact of climate and energy packages on off-grid communities and the need to ensure short- and long-term access to affordable energy.
A new parliament for a new context
From the beginning, participants have been encouraged to share ideas that reflect current concerns and help shape programs that address the most pressing issues facing the liquid gas industry.
The 2024 edition introduces two new platforms, theSTAGE and theFORUM, which will host high-level programs, panel discussions and workshops dedicated to industry priorities. The conference will also feature an exhibition showcasing the latest products and services in the liquid gas industry.
The event concludes with theAWARDS, a European award ceremony that honors the best experts in their respective fields. Award categories cover innovation, safety excellence, leadership, research and development, sustainability and renewable energy.
50 years history
Since its first edition in 1971, the ELGC has brought some of the biggest names in the field to venues across Europe, including Amsterdam, Monaco and Lisbon, drawing on ongoing discussions in each host country.
The latest edition was held in Rome in 2023 as a combined LPG Week and ELGC event, with over 2,500 participants and nearly 170 exhibitors taking part.
