Synergy Media Group Project Manager Anthony Ferraro's career rise has become a role model for young security engineers.
Anthony Ferraro, 44, joined Synergy Media Group more than 10 years ago as a security engineer and rose through the ranks to become a AV-focused design firm based in Warrendale, Pennsylvania. Became a project manager for a manufacturing technology integration company. , security and communication systems.
His success story is an inspiration to the unsung heroes of the security industry who wonder if their work is being noticed by managers or if their careers will progress beyond the position of security technician. It has become a thing.
This is the sixth Q&A in the National Security Technician Day series, which continues the Foundation for Advancing Security Talent's annual celebration of recognizing the men and women who do the most important work in the security industry every day.
We intend to continue this activity with your cooperation. If this story and others in the series resonate with you, let us know who you think will be the next security tech to watch.
What installations are particularly memorable or proud of you?
We recently did an installation for one of our local Pittsburgh nonprofit clients. The building resembled a World War II bunker and was difficult to install. It was the type of project that stuck with me in my sleep and made me wonder if I should have said no.
Our technicians were tested and were able to demonstrate their impressive mechanical skills. Wires had to be run through the existing unwired door block wall, and both the outer metal door frame and inner wooden door frame had to be cut to install the new electronic strike. We also needed to install a new lockset on an interior slab door that did not have existing hardware.
After several days of hard work, we handed over to our customer a retrofitted custom door access system that looked as if it had always been in the space.
Please tell us how you became a security engineer and why you like the security industry.
I was hired by Synergy Media Group in 2012 as a technician. I've always had a passion for electronics, big sound, and technology. Our fundamentals are designing, building, and integrating technology. In addition to security integration, we also provide audiovisual, IT, and structured cabling integration to our clients.
Providing clients across multiple industries with the technology they need to succeed is extremely rewarding, especially when it comes to communicating and expressing how they are using that technology. We can program and integrate access control and video surveillance systems into existing corporate systems, allowing for seamless integration from previous systems.
Now in my 12th year at Synergy Media Group, I've been promoted to project manager, overseeing a group of our technologists. I still get to go out in the field and work on installations myself, which is something I've always loved doing.
As our projects grow, it's incredible to see the team working together towards the same goal of providing the best for our clients.
If you know a security engineer whose work deserves recognition, please contact web editor Craig MacCormack. [email protected]. We plan to continue these Q&As with security technologists throughout the year until National Security Technician Day in 2025.
