Abrazo Health is offering low-cost AngioScreen heart and stroke risk screening at multiple Northeast Valley locations during February Heart Month. Screening can identify potential artery blockages and other problems.
The AngioScreen test takes about 10 minutes and evaluates your circulatory system, heart rhythm, blood pressure, and fitness in your neck and ankle arteries. The screening cost is $59.
Screening may include carotid ultrasound for artery occlusion, simple electrocardiogram for atrial fibrillation, extremity circulation testing for peripheral vascular disease, blood pressure testing for hypertension, individual consultation with a clinician, and ultrasound and Contains test results.
“Previous screening events have identified patients with potential artery blockages, atrial fibrillation, and dangerous high blood pressure,” said Cindy Roberts, RN, Abrazo Health Outreach Manager. “Every 30 seconds an American has a heart attack. Isn't it worth it for him to take 10 minutes to find out if he's at risk?” Roberts said.
Angioscreen information can be used by participants to share with their doctors and is not a substitute for regular check-ups or consultations with your doctor, Roberts said.
“February is American Heart Month, and Abrazo is highlighting heart disease awareness by making this rapid, low-cost test available to the public,” Roberts said. “These are popular events and often fill up quickly.”
