A thief broke into Pets R Us in Rockbrook Village early Monday morning. Pet poachers were caught on camera breaking through the store. They smashed it by breaking the glass with a hammer. They stole a 3-month-old French bulldog. Thief #2 made off with $12,000 worth of parrots. They tried to punch and grab 4-month-old Frenchie before fleeing. “He grabbed him and dragged him into this broken glass,” store manager Kelly Johnson said. “If you put the puppy in the basket without paying attention to it, it will fall onto its back and keep walking.” On Monday morning, the store owners entered the store and spent 30 minutes searching the store for the puppy before finally hiding. I found a puppy. I was scared behind a dog toy. The puppy's eyes required stitches, but fortunately there was no long-term damage. “He could have lost an eye,” Johnson said. Mr. Johnson is upset. , and you know, not really in such a violent way, and that's very disturbing,” she said. “I've been doing this job for 30 years, so it's not just my job, it's who I am. So it's definitely been tough.” He even says it could have been easier if he hadn't. “If you really wanted it and were trying to get in there, there's a door there. “He grabbed him and dragged him into this broken glass,” store manager Kelly Johnson said. “I put him in the basket without worrying and he just fell on his back and just kept running.”
When the store owners arrived on Monday morning, they spent 30 minutes searching the store before finally finding the frightened puppy hiding behind a dog toy.
The puppy's eyes required stitches, but fortunately there was no long-term damage.
“I could have lost an eye,” Johnson said.
Johnson is rattled.
“We've been robbed and things like that before, but you know, we've never really been filmed in this violent way. It's very I’m worried about it,” she said. “I've been doing this for 30 years, so this isn't just my job, it's who I am. So it's definitely tough.”
She even says that even if the thieves had to steal, they could have made it easier on themselves and the animals.
“If they really want it and are trying to break in, there's a door. Their kennel has a back door,” she said.
Johnson and the pets are all upset.
“It’s scary to think that someone could be so heartless,” she said.
Johnson filed a police report first thing Monday morning. She hopes her investigation will result in the animals being returned safely.
