In an exclusive interview with TechRadar after Galaxy Unpacked 2024, Samsung confirmed that some of its new Galaxy AI features will be coming to Galaxy S23 phones “within the first half of this year.” And now we have a better idea of what features to include. In particular, functionality advances by leaps and bounds over generations.
Discovered by X users Tarun Vats (via SamMobile), Samsung lists Circle To Search, Live Translate, Note Assist, and Photo Assist as “coming soon” features to the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. We're sure these features will also be available on the standard Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Z Flip 5.
Conversely, Samsung's website shows no such message next to the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy A54, or Galaxy A34, and more or less indicates that these phones (respectively line of mobile phones) does not exist. ) Galaxy AI capabilities are coming or coming soon.
When asked about Galaxy S23 FE and Galaxy S22 chipset uniformity at Galaxy Unpacked 2024, Samsung executive Patrick Chomet told TechRadar: [Samsung is] The former runs on the same Exynos 2200 chipset as the latter, but Galaxy AI is limited to previous-generation devices. Apparently, Samsung groups Galaxy AI-compatible devices by release date rather than by built-in hardware.
In any case, we know that four of Galaxy AI's best features (Circle To Search, Live Translation, Note Assist, and Photo Assist) will be coming to Galaxy S23 phones in the coming months, and these are Samsung's One UI 6.1 update.
So what exactly do these features do? Well, Circle to Search is essentially a souped-up version of Google Lens. Search for objects on Google using just your fingertips (or the S Pen) and your phone's home button. We recently tested Circle to Search (watch the TikTok video below) and were impressed by its ability to quickly and accurately identify all types of objects.

Live Translate, on the other hand, enables real-time two-way voice and text translation of calls within the native app on Samsung Phone. This is true for people who don't speak your language (and vice versa).
The Note Assist feature uses AI to summarize text in Samsung Notes into easy-to-read templates, while Photo Assist adjusts the angle of images and fills the resulting blank spaces with generated AI content that matches the scene. I can. Samsung's Patrick Chomet defended the ethics of the latter feature in a separate interview with TechRadar.
More Galaxy AI features are available on Samsung's Galaxy S24 phones, including interpretation, chat assist, and transcription assist, but we've yet to get any confirmation that a move to the last-generation Samsung phones is imminent. not.
But for now, Galaxy S23 owners can rest assured that they'll soon be able to take advantage of Galaxy AI's four biggest features.
