The partnership between the Orange and Syracuse Crunch will be highlighted during the Syracuse-Rochester doubleheader on Saturday, February 10th on Women in Sports Day. The Orange will face RIT in the first of two College Hockey America games at Upstate University Medical Arena at Oncenter War Memorial. The Orange will play at 2 p.m., followed by the Syracuse Crunch, an American Hockey League team affiliated with the National Hockey League's Tampa Bay Lightning, who will play the Rochester Americans in the nightcap at 7 p.m. Admission to the Syracuse vs. RIT game is free, and parking is free on Saturdays on the streets of downtown Syracuse. Fans should enter through the State Street Arena entrance.
In between games, the Crunch will host a “Women in Sports” panel in the Empire Room at the Syracuse Marriott Downtown from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The panel will feature Megan Cahill, vice president of communications and digital media for the Syracuse Crunch, American Hockey League;Vice President of Hockey Operations/Governance Melissa Caruso, Syracuse University Hockey Associate Head Coach heather farrell Sue Cornelius Edson, Executive Senior Associate AD/Communications, Syracuse University;
Admission to the Women in Sports panel is $15 and includes tickets to the Crunch game. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Women in Sports and Events (WISE) at Syracuse University. Tickets can be purchased here.
The game against RIT will be the 14th on the Orange on the Crunch's home ice since Syracuse began its ice hockey program in 2008-09. This included an exhibition game against the Minnesota Whitecaps, a professional hockey team that played in the Western Women's Hockey League. (from 2004 to 2011), and the National Women's Hockey League (from 2015 to 2023), which became the Premier Hockey Federation. Syracuse last played on the Crunch's home ice in the 2019-20 season against St. Lawrence.
