Apple has been working on developing AI features for the iPhone for some time, but now that competitors like Google and Microsoft have dedicated AI feature suites for their flagship smartphones, the iPhone maker is finally rolling them out. Ready. During an earnings call last month, Apple CEO Tim Cook highlighted the company's investment in AI, saying it was putting “a tremendous amount of time and effort into it.”
What are these AI features?
The work Apple CEO mentioned is likely iOS 18. Just a few days ago, Bloomberg's Mark Garman suggested that iOS 18 could be the “biggest” update to the iPhone ever. One of his most notable upgrades may come in the form of Siri. Morgan Stanley analysts believe that iOS 18 will focus on generative AI and could include a new Siri powered by LLM.
According to reports, Apple is also looking to incorporate AI into as many apps as possible. Apple Music could get auto-generated playlists, and apps like Keynote and Pages could get the ability to automatically generate slide decks. We are also considering strengthening AppleCare using generated AI.
