On Tuesday, Mayorkas became the first sitting Cabinet member to be impeached after Republicans successfully condemned the Biden administration's immigration policies publicly. Impeachment passed with a single vote. The Democratic-led Senate plans to take up the case against Mayorkas in the future, but it is unlikely that Congress will convict him. A two-thirds majority vote is required to do so.

Our fight is against Washington, not here in Washington.” I will continue to serve this country in this new capacity, just as I have done all my life.”
Greene also hinted that she had fulfilled her mandate in Congress, saying: “At the beginning of the 118th Congress, I promised voters we would pass legislation to secure our borders and hold Secretary Mayorkas accountable. Today, the House passed it. [a border security bill] And Secretary Mayorkas has been impeached, and it's time for me to go home. ”
