England head coach Steve Borthwick could call up four more players for the Calcutta Cup match against Scotland.
included in the list of returnees, according to times and telegraphthe powerful center duo of Olly Lawrence and Manu Tuilagi.
George Martin, who starred in the Rugby World Cup semi-final, and hooker Luke Cowan-Dickie are also included in the selection squad.
carry a threat
But it will probably be the return of Tuirangi and Lawrence that will be most pleasing to Borthwick, given their ability to break through the gain line.
In the absence of the inside center duo, the England manager selected Northampton Saints' talented midfield playmaker Fraser Dingwall for the first two games.
Dingwall scored his first international try against Wales last weekend and is known for his skill on both sides of the ball, but he lacks the same overwhelming power.
Lawrence was expected to start against Italy given his good form at Bath this season and Tuirangi's injury, but he suffered a hip problem during January's Champions Cup appearance.
Up front, Martin is an important returning player who shone in the World Cup semi-final against South Africa.
The young defenseman's big shots were vital to the Red Rose opening up a 15-6 advantage before succumbing late.
Finally, Cowan-Dickie is back and could make his first international appearance under Borthwick since he last played Test rugby in the 2022 year-end series.
England will look to build on their success in the opening two games of the Six Nations when they face Scotland at Murrayfield on February 24.
Scottish advantage
The Red Rose have struggled in this game over the past few years, with the Scottish team having won three in a row.
In total, the Englishman has only won one of their last six meetings, and that came at Murrayfield in 2020.
“They've been using our number for a number of different reasons over the last few years,” fly-half George Ford said.
“They're a dangerous team and it's always a tough game, especially when the English players go down the tunnel at Murrayfield (referring to the infamous 2018 riot)” That was a few years ago now! Bloody hell.
“All joking aside, we have to make sure we are ready for something like that. That's the beauty of going to Scotland and trying to win. All those things are important, so we've got to make sure we're ready for something like that. Let's get ready.
“We want to stick to our plan and not give the opposition what they want. They are obviously trying to impose what they want on you as well.
“It's that battle and a lot of it comes down to who wins the game physically and with their intent and attitude.
“Of course you have to get on with it afterwards. England v Scotland is freezing cold and right there.”
