Happy Valentine’s Day – 5 things you need to know
1. Yesterday, the House of Representatives impeached Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas by a vote of 214-213 for alleged immigration violations in his response to the United States' southern border. Mayorkas is the second Cabinet member in U.S. history to be removed from office, after then-Secretary of War William Belknap was impeached in 1876.
2. The city of Wichita is behind Riverfest. The City Council approved an agreement to provide $40,000 in cash sponsorship and will provide an additional $40,000 for special programs. The city will also provide some in-kind services, including the use of Century II and security provided by the Wichita Police Department.
3. It's Championship Parade Day in Kansas City and Corn Dog Day here in Wichita, all to celebrate another Super Bowl for the Chiefs. Super Bowl. Figures show it was the most-watched Super Bowl in history with 123.7 million viewers, up 7% from last year and the most-watched television broadcast in history.
4. Despite staying in the Super Bowl, Taylor Swift clearly hasn't forgotten what Kanye West did to her at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Kanye bought tickets for a suite right in front of Taylor at Allegiant Stadium. She noticed, turned on her, made a few calls, and with a “goodbye Felicia” attitude, kicked Yeezy out of the game.
5. “Cupid's Undie Run” is perfect for Valentine's Day. This is a charity organization in Nevada that raises funds and awareness for neurofibromatosis (NF). The condition is rare. Tumors grow on nerves throughout the body. It affects 1 in 2,000 people, or about 4 million people a year. Look, I have no problem wearing underwear in public….but that whole run….hey, that's where I draw the line.
