Royal Caribbean did not release additional details about the passengers.
“First of all, sad news. First fatality on Ultimate World Cruise,” a passenger named Adita said in a TikTok video. “She was an older woman. She knew why because I was in the room when they took her body out. I was there to see it, so it's very, very sad. .”
The original video has since been deleted, but a report from Cruise Watchers was posted, describing the update as “a depressing version of the ultimate world cruise tea time.”
The company has not confirmed that this is the first fatality on the voyage, which set sail in December.
For months, the cruise has captivated people like a social media reality show, with coverage of storms, coronavirus outbreaks, canceled ports and interpersonal drama.
The nine-month expedition's itinerary includes 65 countries on every continent. Dozens of TikTok accounts have sprung up to document the cruise. Some are run by some of his more than 600 travelers who stay on board. Others are spectators on the ground.
