We continue to be touched by all the donations of supplies, pet food, toys, treats, blankets, cleaning supplies, and more.
Following the recent seizure of eight dogs and 39 cats, 11 more puppies arrived at the shelter with their mothers within days. The outpouring of support was truly incredible. Businesses, individuals, children and club members all stop by with needed items. This reduces supply costs for several months. So a huge thank you to everyone who has been so generous.
If you're looking for an easy way to donate to the Central Aroostook Humane Society, you can make an account at one of our two redemption centers in Presque Isle: the Parson Street Redemption Center at 127 Parsons Street and the Presque Isle Redemption Center at 2 Washburn Road. there is. They will be happy to help you donate all or part of the shipping of your bottles. Any donations are greatly appreciated by all the furry friends at the shelter.
Since we're in the middle of winter, it's important to remember a few tips to keep your pet happy and healthy until the first signs of spring arrive. Exposure to winter's dry, cold air, sleet, snow, and even the occasional scary freezing rain can cause your feet to become chapped and your skin to itch and peel. Winter walks can become very dangerous if your pet licks ice-melting chemicals off their bare feet.
Please take great care of your pet. After each walk, wash and dry your pet's paws and belly to remove ice, salt, and chemicals. Check for cracked paw pads or redness between the toes.
A big tip is to massage petroleum jelly into your paw pads before you go out. This helps protect against salts and chemicals.
Coolant and antifreeze can be deadly poisonous to dogs and cats, so be sure to thoroughly wipe up any coolant or antifreeze spills from your car.
If possible, keep your furry family member warm and safe indoors. Also, just like in the summer, please do not leave your pet alone in the car. During the cold season, your car acts as a refrigerator to keep you cool. Remember, if it's too cold for you, it might be too cold for your pet too.
Winter is full of beautiful, calm days where you can enjoy long walks with your canine companion. We hope many people take advantage of the fresh air and keep moving.
