As a strong low pressure system moves through the southern Plains this evening, precipitation is expected across southern Missouri tonight and into tomorrow, with travel impacts expected to last into Monday night.
A winter weather advisory is in place through Monday night for Camden, Phelps and Pulaski counties to expect several inches of snow and road impacts.
The center of the low pressure system will remain over Arkansas, but a band to the north will push up and bring rain and snow to the southern third of Missouri into tomorrow.
The cold air will interact with the heaviest precipitation bands, potentially producing accumulated snow along and south of I-44 into late Monday afternoon. A few snow showers are possible as far north as Lake of the Ozarks.
Travel impacts are expected along and south of Interstate 44, where 1 to 4 inches of snow could accumulate, causing slippery spots and reduced visibility. Up to 1/2 inch of snow is possible near and possibly further afield around the lake. Northeast as a line from Eldon to Owensville.
Precipitation is unlikely to continue in Jefferson City and Columbia, but any change in the system's trajectory could reduce the amount of snowfall since there is a sharp line between a few inches of snow and almost no snow. may change significantly.
