leader Jenna Heckesohn, an advertising sales representative in the Festus area, posted a photo of herself and her rescue animal Lucy, a peregrine falcon hybrid.
Heckeshorn said Lucy attended a presentation for Party Paws Mobile Zoo, a for-profit business she runs to raise money for the Imperial-based nonprofit Raptor Rescue, Inc., a group she supports. It is said that he will appear.
“Party Paws is business as usual,” she said. “All profits will be donated to Raptor Rescue Inc.”
She estimates Lucy to be between 8 and 10 years old.
“I use Lucy as part of my educational program,” Heckesohn said. “We took her in about a year ago. Her health was terrible. She had been job-bound in Texas for six years. She had PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). .
“She's doing very well. Her weight is being maintained. She has new wings.”
She said she felt attached to Lucy.
“She flies, so I handle her,” Heckeshorn said. “She and I are imprinted. She's very protective.”
Lucy seemed to take special care of children with disabilities, she said.
