The Hall of Fame QB stars alongside Messi and Jason Sudeikis in Michelob Ultra's Super Bowl 58 ad.
Michelob Ultra is back with another star-studded commercial for Sunday's big game. This time, former Miami Dolphins Hall of Fame QB Dan Marino will appear in the beer company's “Superior Beach” TV ad.Soccer standout Lionel Messi and famous actor Jason Sudeikis, star of the movie “T”ed lassoand also makes a cameo appearance.
Marino, 62, was selected by the Dolphins with the 27th pick in the first round of the 1983 NFL Draft. He went on to play all 16 seasons with Miami, including his 1984 MVP campaign. Marino's other accomplishments include being a nine-time Pro Bowler, three-time All-Pro First Team, five-time NFL passing yards leader, and three-time NFL touchdown leader. Marino was also named to the NFL Centennial All-Time Team in 2019.
He finished his passing career with 61,361 yards, 420 touchdowns, a 59.4 completion percentage and an 86.4 passer rating. He was inducted into his league's National Football Hall of Fame in 2005.
Michelob Ultra Super Bowl 2024 Commercial
The ad begins with soccer great Messi and two of his friends walking to a bar on a nice, sunny beach. Messi told the bartender that he wanted to drink Michelob's Ultra on tap, but when she tried to pour it into a glass, the beer ran out. Messi was waiting for a drink when a soccer ball flew towards his left foot.
Engelbert Humperdinck's phrase “Cuando, Quando, Quando (tell me more)” begins, and the Argentine player shows off a number of spectacular dribbling moves. As he was walking across the entire beach, Sudeikis accosted him and he claimed that he and Messi were very close friends. Messi kicks the soccer ball to “Dan Marina” and Marino catches it and throws the ball back toward the beach.
In this ad, Messi follows up with a few more anklebreakers before the beer is ready, and then assists another beachgoer who kicks a strike into the hammock net.
