Lafayette-based Subaru of Indiana Automotive Co. announced changes in leadership Thursday.
Nobuyuki Bando will assume the position of Chairman and CEO on April 1, after serving as General Manager of Subaru Corporation's manufacturing division in Japan.
Mr. Bando will succeed Mr. Ryota Fukumizu, who is returning to Japan as the general manager of Subaru's manufacturing headquarters.
The automaker said in a news release that Bando will lead Subaru's North American manufacturing operations through what has been described as a “once-in-a-century transformational period” for the auto industry.
In addition, Scott Brand has been appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of SIA, becoming the first American to hold the position. Brand has been with SIA since 1989, most recently serving as Executive Vice President and Vice President of Human Resources.
The brand's new role will also come into effect from April 1st.
Subaru of Indiana Automotive is the automaker's only manufacturing facility in North America. The facility employs more than 6,000 people and produces Ascent, Crosstrek, Legacy, and Outback models.
