January 24th was “Change A Pet's Life Day,” a day designed to encourage people to adopt pets from shelters and raise awareness about animals in need.
According to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), approximately 6.3 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters each year, illustrating the great need for animal care and welfare.
One way you can be part of the solution is by adopting. Special cats and dogs are currently waiting for you at Ark Valley Humane Society.
If now is not the time for such an endeavor, you may be able to become a foster parent or volunteer. With AVHS, both are possible. Animals in captivity are provided with food and supplies, and those who volunteer have a wide range of jobs to choose from.
We also gratefully accept donations. These may be money or in-kind gifts such as food or pet supplies.
Even just participating in fundraisers like Tales on the Trail, Movie Night at the Comanche Drive-In, and the Fido/Feline Photo Contest supports AVHS and is fun.
Additionally, there will be local food drives and shopping/eating opportunities, with a portion of the proceeds from purchases going to AVHS.
To stay up to date on all of these opportunities, please visit our website at ark-valley.org or follow us on Facebook.
Many of you have already supported AVHS and we are grateful to you. You are already improving the lives of many animals. It's wagging its tail!
